I recently got spiritual after starting to take my nephew to church after he decided that he wanted to know more about God. He chose a church that is somewhat strict in their followings and because I wasn't going to leave him alone in a room full of religious freaks, I sat there with him as they taught him. Well low and behold I began to slowly absorb what they were teaching him, and the message of what they were saying really began to apeal to me. Which is really ironic considering I have been completely against organized religions up to this point. To make a long story short we were both baptised on the 12 April after my nephew Ning's 8th Bday. And it has been a journey, one I've been thinking of sharing with you all out there for a while, but something I've put off because I wasn't strong enough in my faith to do so until now. Anyway my church has a pretty neat concept, that we are sporadically trying out, called Family Home Evenings. Basically you take one day out of your week where the tv stays off, you leave the gaming on the computer, the phone calls stay on silent and the whole family unit takes an evening where they are the focus in a good Christain environment. So takeaway is out and prayer is in, so is open dialogue between family members, and a lesson about whatever is important spiritually to you family. Sometimes we play a boardgame. Occassionally on a rainy day we just lay in bed and read children's scriptures. When I first heard about this concept I groaned because I thought at the time that it was an awfully boring concept that I was required to take time out of my week to set up. And although there are weeks where we don't get to do it(STILL LEARNING ), it has become one of my most favorite things about this lifestyle because it really brings home what is most important to me - especially in this day and age - Family. Anyway I'd love to hear what you all think about this concept Love and Kisses Bee |
